Apotemnophilia: Cover Your Ears – Congress Gets Nasty!

Ever heard of apotemnophilia, coprophilia, frotteurism, klismaphilia or gerontosexuality? Thanks to Rep. Alcee Hastings, who had the embarrassing task of listing off the dirty deeds, we have.

Rep. Hastings was mocking the language used in a proposed amendment to the hate crimes bill. It’s unclear exactly what the author of the amendment was actually trying to accomplish — but it certainly frazzled Hastings.

Apotemnophilia is the erotic interest in being or looking like an amputee. It should not be confused with acrotomophilia, which is the …

The History Behind Cinco De Mayo

Cinco de mayo history

The 5th of May is not Mexican Independence Day, but it should be! And Cinco de Mayo is not an American holiday, but it should be. Mexico declared its independence from mother Spain on midnight, the 15th of September, 1810. And it took 11 years before the first Spanish soldiers were told and forced to leave Mexico.

So, why Cinco de Mayo? And why should Americans savor this day as well? Because 4,000 Mexican soldiers smashed the French and traitor Mexican army of 8,000 at Puebla, Mexico, 100 miles east of Mexico City on the morning of May 5, 1862.

The French had landed in Mexico (along with Spanish and English troops) five months earlier on the pretext of collecting Mexican debts from the newly elected government of democratic President (and Indian) Benito Juarez. The English and Spanish quickly made deals and left. The French, however, had different ideas.

World At War Map Pack 2 Announced

Call of Duty: World at War’s Map Pack 1 was downloaded a million times in its first weekend so a second map pack is a foregone conclusion. Treyarch officially announced it today and revealed what sort of locales the new maps will feature.

Like Map Pack 1, Map Pack 2 will have three normal multiplayer maps and one zombie co-op map. The announcement gives a brief description of each: “Battle to control the river bridge in ‘Banzai’ – a bright jungle map featuring a waterfall and hidden caves. In ‘Corrosion’ face down your enemy in a shattered train yard, and in “Sub Pens” wipe the monsoon rain from your eyes as you struggle over a bombed-out submarine base. The Zombies make a return in ‘Shi No Numa’ (Zombie Swamp) featuring Perk machines, the deadly new Wunderwaffe DG-2, new Achievements / Trophies… and flaming Hell Hounds!”

Map Pack 2 will be released for the Xbox 360 and PS3 in June. There was a two week delay between the console and PC release of the first map pack so we could be looking at a similar situation here, too. The first map pack is free for PC owners but costs 800 Microsoft Points ($10) for the PS3/360.

jon and kate plus 8, New TLC Series: Jon and Kate Plus Date

Unwilling to let Octomom monopolize the press about large and unmanageable families with emotional problems, Jon and Kate Gosselin of TLC’s Jon and Kate Plus 8 nabbed the cover of Us this week for Jon’s shady behavior with a younger woman:

The new issue of Us Weekly has shocking, exclusive pictures of the Jon & Kate Plus 8 dad leaving a club at 2 a.m. — with a mystery woman and without his wedding band.

Jon Gosselin arrived at the club at 11:20 p.m. and by 2 a.m. “could barely walk” as he exited the less-public back entrance of Legends Lounge — near the family’s $1.3-million home in Wernersville, Pennsylvania — on April 18, a fellow partier tells Us Weekly.
