The 17-year-old Allison Iraheta took on a standard, Someone to Watch Over Me on American Idol Rat Pack Night April 28, 2009 which featured a surprise guest mentor; the Grammy and Oscar winner Jaime Foxx mentoring the contestants as they sang standards from the celebrated 1960s Rat Pack whose members included showbiz legends Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr, Dean Martin, Joey Bishop and others.
Someone to Watch Over Me lyrics were written by Ira Gershwin and music by George Gershwin from the musical Oh, Kay! The song has since become a standard and covered by numerous artists including Frank Sinatra.
The Allison Iraheta performance was easily her best of the entire American Idol season 8, wining praise from all of the judges except one.
