ACL lineup features Pearl Jam, Beastie Boys, Mos Def
The eighth edition of the Austin City Limits Music Festival is still about six months away, but the midnight release of the lineup may generate a lot of talk around Austin.
ACL 2009 headliners include Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band, Beastie Boys, Kings of Leon and Ben Harper and Relentless7. Other bands include Thievery Corporation, Mos Def, Sonic Youth, John Legend, Lilly Allen, K’Naan and The Decemberists.
“It’s funny every year, we try to go after the biggest and best names in music,” Charles Attal, with ACL promoter, C3 Presents, said. “Some years we get some of the bigger names, some years we don’t, we’ve always said it’s not about the headliners and when they do come in and happen to fall into line the way they have this year, we do not pass them up.”
Attal said all the headliners just happened to be touring this year, making it a little easier for the ACL promoter to catch them.
