Vickie Guerrero opens the show in the ring. She said that she’s proud of Edge for winning the World Heavyweight Title from John Cena at Backlash. However, it is her honor, as the General Manager of Raw, to introduce Randy Orton as the new WWE Champion.
Randy Orton comes to the ring with Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase in tow. After a great deal of time spent grand standing, Orton said that he did exactly what he set out to do last night. He then proceeds to tell the fans that they will all amount to nothing. But not him… he’s a success. And he’ll be the first to tell you. A highlight film is then shown of him destroying the entire McMahon family… one punt to the head at a time.
Vickie Guerrero then says that she’s excited that Orton is on her show. Further, she adds that his first title defense will be in three weeks at Judgment Day. He will face the winner of a match tonight between The Big Show and Batista.
Orton gets back on the mic and says that Vickie Guerrero may be the GM, but the entire locker room has to answer to to him.
MVP’s music hits and the United States champion comes out. He says that as the US champion he doesn’t answer to anybody, but conceeds what Orton has done is impressive.
DiBiase gets on the mic and threatens him. MVP puts him in his place quickly and turns his attention back to Orton. He says that if Big Show or Batista doesn’t take care of him at Judgment Day, then he will. Rhodes then asks for a match with MVP.

As Raw rejoins, highlights from the Santina fiasco from Backlash is shown where he/she refused to kiss Great Khali.
Santina Marella, Brie Bella, Kelly Kelly and Mickie James def. Rosa Mendes, Beth Phoenix, Jillian Hall, and WWE Diva’s Champion Maryse after Santina got the pin on Jillian Hall. It was a pretty entertaining match that featured the old “switcheroo” between the Bella Twins and the Raw debut of Hornswoggle who chased Rosa around the ring. After the match, the little guy seemed scarred for life after getting a look up Santina’s skirt.
Matt Hardy comes to the ring with his right hand in a cast. He says that last night Jeff Hardy proved to him just how insensitive he is. And as a result he suffered a broken hand. Matt goes on to say that he is not a quitter. He never quit anything in his life, but after his hand got broken he didn’t have a choice. He adds that he’s wrestling under protest tonight, because he’s forced to compete with the injury.
Matt Hardy def. Goldust after clubbing him in the back of the head with his cast.
Randy Orton is shown walking to the ring in the back.
Randy Orton def. MVP via disqualification after Shane McMahon attacked Orton with a Kendo Stick and fled the ring. The real story of the match is the push that MVP got from his strong showing against the WWE Champion. The two battled back and forth for two full segments with Orton never really getting the upper hand. The crowd was solidly behind MVP for this one.
The Miz makes his Raw singles debut. He drops a bunch of MTV names including Hillary Duff. Yes, Hillary Duff’s name was dropped on a WWE show. Wow. Anyway, Miz thinks that he’s God’s gift to the world. He demands to face John Cena tonight and calls for a referee to come out for the match.
Cena’s music hits, but the former champion is a no show. Miz tries to provoke him some more. He delivers the classic line, “You always say, ‘You can’t see me.’ And well, you’re right… Your movies aren’t in theaters long enough.”
Miz declares himself the winner of the match by forfeit and demands Lilian Garcia to announce him as the winner. She refuses, but Miz hopped out of the ring, grabbed her mic and announced himself as the winner.
Highlights from the European tour are shown.
Unified WWE Tag Team Champions Carlito and Primo def. Jamie Noble and Chavo Guerrero after Carlito hit Noble with the Back Cracker. Noble is sporting a new look with a buzzed haircut.
Josh Mathews catches up with Batista in the back. Mathews asks if he feels responsible for Triple H’s loss at Backlash. Batista says that he feels for Triple H, but that it’s only a matter of time before he comes back. He says that he’s gonna beat Big Show tonight, beat Orton at Judgment Day, and take what matters most to him… the WWE Championship.
Vickie Guerrero comes out to announce that the main event for next week will be Randy Orton vs Shane McMahon.
Batista def. Big Show by count out after John Cena appeared at the top of the ramp, barely able to stand, and being held back by a referee. Big Show went to go after Cena, but realized that he was being counted out. He made a mad dash for the ring by the time the ref was up to 8. However, his dead on sprint couldn’t get him back to the ring on time as he slid under the bottom rope just after the ref counted 10. Batista speared Big Show for good measure. After he came to, he and John Cena had a stare down to close the show.
