So far the stock has hit a 52-week low of $29.80 and 52-week high of $52.00.

Medcohealth Solutions stock has been showing support around 41.95 and resistance in the 44.33 range. Technical indicators for the stock are Bullish and S&P gives MHS a positive 4 STAR (out of 5) buy rating. MHS appears on the Investors Observer Analysts Favorites list. For a hedged play on this stock, look at an Oct ‘09 45 covered call (MHS JI) for a net debit in the $39.14 area.

That is also the break even stock price for this trade. This covered call has a 179 day duration, provides 9.48% downside protection and a 14.97% assigned return rate for a 30.53% annualized return rate (comparison purposes only). A lower cost hedged play for this stock would use a longer term call option in place of the covered call stock purchase. To use this strategy look at going long the MHS Jan ‘10 35 Call (YXM AG) and selling the Oct ‘09 45 call (MHS JI) for a $7.30 debit. The trade has a 179 day life and would provide 2.17% downside protection and a 36.99% assigned return rate for a 75.00% annualized return rate (for comparison purposes only). Medcohealth Solutions does not pay dividends at this time.

Chrysler Finally Files For Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection

The White House just announced that the third largest American automaker, Chrysler, will file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and enter an alliance with Fiat SpA (BIT:F). The bankruptcy case, which is expected to be quick and “surgical”, will take place in the United States Bankruptcy Court in New York, and the filing marks the first American automaker to try to restructure under Chapter 11 since 1933 when Studebaker filed. A senior White House official said the case would commence immediately and the government would provide Chrysler with $3 to $3.5 billion debtor-in-possession financing so it could continue with daily operations. After completion of its restructuring plans, Chrysler will receive $4.5 billion in financing to restart operations. The embattled member of the Detroit Three has already received $4.5 billion in aid from the federal government.

Official: Chrysler to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy

Following reports from late last night and early this morning that talks had broken down with lenders, Chrysler will officially announce its plan to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Thursday. Negotiations between Chrysler and at least three lenders went on through the night, but no agreement was reached.

The news was revealed to Automotive News by an unnamed Obama administration official. The official said the Treasury Department upped its Chrysler debt-swap offer to $2.25 billion – up from $2 billion – but was unable to reach an agreement with the holdout creditors.

Chrysler Finally Files For Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection

Many of the dealerships that GM chose to shut down are the ones that primarily sell the Hummer, Saab, Saturn and Pontiac brands. Their plan is that those 4 brands will either be sold or closed by the end of 2010. GM already announced that Pontiac will stop production by 2010 and the other 3 brands will be sold. It’s likely that these dealerships can strike new deals with whoever picks up the Hummer, Saab and Saturn brands.

These 1100 closings add to the already 300 GM dealerships that have shut down due to a huge decrease in sales and the difficulty for potential buyers to get a car loan. The closings are GM’s attempt to restructure and prove to the Government that they’re a viable company. If they can’t do so by June 1st, they’ll be forced to restructure in Chapter 11 bankrupcty. Selling off the weak brands and closing all the dealerships is a step in the right direction, but I’m just still not sure if it’s too little, too late.

Thinking about getting a Discover Credit Card? Think you might like to have a Discover Card? There are a lot of credit cards out there and there’s a big difference from company to company as to how they treat you. When considering issues involving consumer credit, revolving credit, online shopping, credit reporting, electronic commerce, banking, and credit card debt, you should choose carefully and wisely. How the company treats you is important, And the folks at discover card suck. I want to use the power of the web to tell my story.

Many years ago my ex-wife, Vicki Stringfellow, got a Discover Credit Card. Discover put my name on it without my knowledge. I knew she had the card, but I didn’t know I was on it.

Children with Tay-Sachs disease appear normal at birth, but when they are around 3 to 6 months old, they develop symptoms ranging from deafness and blindness to seizures and dementia, which eventually results in death. The Mayo Clinic elaborates on certain other symptoms of the disease that include decreased eye contact in infants, lack of crawling or smiling, and exhibiting slow body growth. According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, those suffering from this disorder also have a characteristic “cherry-red spot” in their eyes. In fact, it was this cherry-red spot that first led to the characterization of the disease by British ophthalmologist Warren Tay in 1881.

Considering the debilitating effects of the disorder, it is hard not to wonder what causes the disease. The Genetics Home Reference website describes Tay-Sachs as a disease caused by the build-up of a fatty substance called GM2 ganglioside in the brain. The buildup of the ganglioside is caused by disrupted activity of the enzyme beta-hexosaminidase A, which is present in the lysosomes of cells and is normally responsible for degrading GM2 ganglioside. If beta-hexosaminidase A malfunctions, GM2 ganglioside builds up inside the cells to toxic levels. This buildup is particularly prominent in neurons in the brain and spinal cord, and hence the disease affects the nervous system. The hereditary component of the disease is due to the fact that individuals with the disease have a mutation in the HEX A gene, which is responsible for creating the beta-hexosaminidase A enzyme. A mutation in the HEX A gene causes defects in the formation of the enzyme, which prevents the enzyme from being able to degrade GM2 ganglioside.

In spite of the diseases being fatal, according to the National Genome Research Institute, one in 250 people possesses the mutated version of HEX A. With such a high rate of occurrence, it would seem that the disease is fairly common and should affect a large number of people. To understand why this is not the case, we need to go back to the basics of genetics, which state that genes always come in pairs; hence, there is a pair of HEX A genes in the body. If only one of these genes is mutated, the person is perfectly normal and shows no symptoms of the disease. People with just one copy of the gene are called carriers of the disease. The disease manifests itself only when a person contains two mutated copies of the gene. Children receive one of gene of the pair from one parent and the other from the other parent. Thus a child of one carrier parent and one parent without the mutated gene will be perfectly normal; children of two carriers, however have a 25 percent chance of contracting the disease. As stated on www.tay-sachs.org, the disease is fairly common in those of Eastern European Jewish descent, with one in 27 of them being carriers. Currently, there is no cure for the disease, and the disease is fatal for anyone with two defective copies of the HEX A gene. Tests for detecting whether one is a carrier of the gene do exist. The tests are simple blood tests and can easily help couples decide whether they want to have children if both parents turn out to be carriers.

eLearning Instructional Technologist
The trade has a 179 day life and would provide 2.17% downside protection and a 36.99% assigned return rate for a 75.00% annualized return rate (for comparison purposes only). Medcohealth Solutions does not pay dividends at this time.

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke and then-Treasury Department chief Henry Paulson pressured Bank of America Corp. to not discuss its increasingly troubled plan to buy Merrill Lynch & Co. — a deal that later triggered a government bailout of BofA — according to testimony by Kenneth Lewis, the bank’s chief executive.

Mr. Lewis, testifying under oath before New York’s attorney general in February, told prosecutors that he believed Messrs. Paulson and Bernanke were instructing him to keep silent about deepening financial difficulties at Merrill, the struggling brokerage giant. As part of his testimony, a transcript of which was reviewed by The Wall Street Journal, Mr. Lewis said the government wanted him to keep quiet while the two sides negotiated government funding to help BofA absorb Merrill and its huge losses.

“Under normal circumstances, banks must alert their shareholders of any materially significant financial hits. But these weren’t normal times: Late last year, Wall Street was crumbling and BofA faced intense government pressure to buy Merrill to keep the crisis from spreading. Disclosing losses at Merrill — which eventually totaled $15.84 billion for the fourth quarter — could have given BofA’s shareholders an opportunity to stop the deal and let Merrill collapse instead.” I’m seeing a lot of potential litigation and prosecution as this bailout thing unravels. Government (and corporate) lawyers and officials will no doubt protest that they were doing what the country wanted in the face of an unprecedented crisis, but we’ve seen how well that argument plays once the crisis is over . . . .

Carbon credits are a key component of national and international attempts to mitigate the growth in concentrations of greenhouse gases (GHGs). Carbon trading is an application of an emissions trading approach. Greenhouse gas emissions are capped and then markets are used to allocate the emissions among the group of regulated sources. The idea is to allow market mechanisms to drive industrial and commercial processes in the direction of low emissions or less “carbon intensive” approaches than are used when there is no cost to emitting carbon dioxide and other GHGs into the atmosphere. Since GHG mitigation projects generate credits, this approach can be used to finance carbon reduction schemes between trading partners and around the world.

There are also many companies that sell carbon credits to commercial and individual customers who are interested in lowering their carbon footprint on a voluntary basis. These carbon offsetters purchase the credits from an investment fund or a carbon development company that has aggregated the credits from individual projects. The quality of the credits is based in part on the validation process and sophistication of the fund or development company that acted as the sponsor to the carbon project. This is reflected in their price; voluntary units typically have less value than the units sold through the rigorously-validated Clean Development Mechanism[1].

The inconvenience of the sky being darkened is nothing to the lasting effects of all the carbon being thrown into the atmosphere and radically changing our climate by trapping the heat from the sun (once the clouds of ash have disappeared).

Carbon credits are a key component of national and international attempts to mitigate the growth in concentrations of greenhouse gases (GHGs).
