Seattle, Feb. 12, 2008 — Have a remodeling project in mind? If you attend the Seattle Home Show this Saturday, you might find out you have some cash coming to help pay for it.

Associated Content: A giant stingray, no a massive stingray, valiantly battled 13 men before succumbing to captivity. As it turns out, this giant stingray was going to have some baby stingrays; she was expecting.

Metro.co.uk reports in its article, “Giant stingray battles 13 men and loses,” that a fishing professional, Ian Welch, landed this stingray in Thailand.

Actually, it is unfair to give Mr. Welch all the credit. It took 13 men to get the stingray into the boat.

Hashima Island is a small, 15-acre outcropping of rock off the coast of Nagasaki, Japan. Although tiny in size, the island was important in magnitude: It was a major coal mining center for Japan for almost a full century. The island sits atop ­a coal deposit that descends well into the ocean floor beneath. Once it was tapped, Japan’s Mitsubishi Corporation purchased Hashima from the local families who owned it in 1890. That’s when the heyday of Hashima Island began.

Since it’s located about 18 miles from Nagasaki, it made more sense for Mitsubishi to build housing on the island, rather than ferry its employees to and from the island every day. Squat concrete apartment blocks were constructed one at a time. Space was at a premium, so the buildings went up instead of out, and families were jammed together in cramped lodging, sharing bathrooms and kitchens.

Amenities like a movie theater, doctor’s office, arcades, restaurants and bars were added later, and the city became a thriving, microcosmic community. The entire complex was linked via underground tunnels. At its peak in 1959, Hashima Island was the most densely populated city on Earth, with 5,259 inhabitants on the small, rocky outcropping [source: Burke-Gaffney]. That’s 835 people for every 2.5 acres.

Infamous mafia princess, Victoria Gotti, has been trying to sell her Old Westbury, NY mansion since 2005. Since then, the price has dropped from $4.4 million down to $3.2 million. She first put the home up for sale after it was used in the filming of her tv show, “Growing Up Gotti”. The show followed the sometimes-exciting lives of Victoria and her three Gotti sons.

JP Morgan Chase put the Old Wetbury mansion up for foreclosure after Ms. Gotti missed a series of mortgage payments, which were a whopping $25K a month. They report that she still owes around $650,000 on the home, and obviously cannot pay.

The New York Post goes into more depth on Gotti’s foreclosure. For those of you who don’t know the mafia princess, she is the daughter of the late (and great?) mafia don, John Gotti, nicknamed the “Dapper Don”. The 46 year old Victoria stopped making payments for two years straight starting in September of 2006, which eventually led to JP Morgan Chase announcing the foreclosure.

Joanna Pacitti has starred on Broadway, recorded an album for Geffen records and has dated a former professional winner of “Dancing With the Stars,” but Joanna Pacitti still felt she needed to give her career a boost by auditioning for season eight of “American Idol.”

Joanna Pacitti came under fire when it was revealed she was allowed to audition and was put through to “Idol’s” Hollywood round on Wednesday night’s show.

The 24-year-old joined the cast of Broadway’s “Annie” at the age of 11. But Joanna Pacitti and her family ended up suing producers after Joanna Pacitti was replaced in the show after she became sick with bronchitis. Joanna Pacitti’s mother filed suit for $50 million, but settled with producers out of court.

Many, many search engines have sprouted up over the years, each with their own little quirky feature that sets to distinguish themselves from Google. Many of them are touted as “Google killers” – meaning they’re so hip and/or effective that they’ll quickly take market share away from Google’s core business – search.

Wolfram Alpha is getting the same hype. But is it for real this time? Personally, I don’t think so. Though WA offers a very interesting way to search, and arguably, goes even beyond search with its mathematic abilities, it’s doubtful that it will topple the search engine giant.

What’s the distinguishing feature of Wolfram Alpha? Well, its mission is to “make systematic knowledge immediately computable by anyone”. Allow me to decipher: Basically, what they’re saying is that Wolfram Alpha sets out to be a calculator, an encyclopedia, an historical archive and a search engine all in one. For example, typing in “Michael Jackson” doesn’t just give me a list of website I can visit to learn more about him; it immediately brings up factual information about the singer himself – occupation, age, place of birth, timeline, etc. Pretty neat!

Former Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve “Air” McNair was found shot to death in a Nashville condo today. Beside him was his girlfriend who was also shot to death. A handgun was found on the scene but detective were not immediately able to determine how or why the couple was killed, though it has been ruled a homicide.

McNair led the Titans to the 2000 Super Bowl, where they ended up losing a tight battle. He went on to QB for the Baltimore Ravens before ending his long career as a successful quarterback. It’s a big loss for the NFL community and a tragic situation. Were hoping to learn more about his death in the coming weeks as detectives have time to interview witnesses and analyze evidence.

It is unclear at this time where the gun came from, as is the nature of the relationship between McNair and his girlfriend, Sahel Kazemi. McNair was just 36 years old and his girlfriend was 20.

Parents say the services help them protect their kids against predators and also reduce “sexting,” the growing practice of using mobile phones to share sexually explicit text messages and pictures. In 2008, Jessica Logan, a Cincinnati, Ohio, teen, hanged herself after her nude photo, meant for her boyfriend, was sent to teenagers at several high schools, exposing her to ridicule and taunts.

An aspiring model tormented by heroin addiction hanged himself in a Brooklyn playground early Friday after foretelling his suicide on Facebook.

A jogger discovered the body of Paul Zolezzi, 30, dangling from the monkey bars in Mount Prospect Park playground near the Brooklyn Museum about 7a.m., police said.

Hours earlier, Zolezzi had updated his Facebook page with an apparent suicide note, saying he was “born in San Francisco, became a shooting star over everywhere, and ended his life in Brooklyn. … And couldn’t have asked for more.”

Hollywood – Another interesting week awaits the American Idol Season 8 fans as the next week’s theme is “standards made famous by members of the original Rat Pack”. Adam Lambert, Danny Gokey, Kris Allen, Allison Iraheta and Matt Giraud will try to give the viewers some touch of “Vegas”. Rat Pack is a popular co-ed group from the early 50s and 60s, original members includes the legendary Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin and Joey Bishop. The Rat Pack often performed in Las Vegas, Nevada, the entertainment capital of the world.

B&W photos of Rat Pack are everywhere – and for the remaining finalists, they will try their best to go B&W too – in music! I can see another surprising Adam Lambert and an overacting Kris Allen next week. Danny Gokey dancing like a hippo and Allison rocking like a high school teener – kiidiiing! Taylor Hicks will return to the Idol stage to perform his single “Seven Mile Breakdown” as part of the results-show telecast.

Chrysler Finally Files For Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection

The White House just announced that the third largest American automaker, Chrysler, will file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and enter an alliance with Fiat SpA (BIT:F). The bankruptcy case, which is expected to be quick and “surgical”, will take place in the United States Bankruptcy Court in New York, and the filing marks the first American automaker to try to restructure under Chapter 11 since 1933 when Studebaker filed. A senior White House official said the case would commence immediately and the government would provide Chrysler with $3 to $3.5 billion debtor-in-possession financing so it could continue with daily operations. After completion of its restructuring plans, Chrysler will receive $4.5 billion in financing to restart operations. The embattled member of the Detroit Three has already received $4.5 billion in aid from the federal government.

Official: Chrysler to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy

Following reports from late last night and early this morning that talks had broken down with lenders, Chrysler will officially announce its plan to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Thursday. Negotiations between Chrysler and at least three lenders went on through the night, but no agreement was reached.

The news was revealed to Automotive News by an unnamed Obama administration official. The official said the Treasury Department upped its Chrysler debt-swap offer to $2.25 billion – up from $2 billion – but was unable to reach an agreement with the holdout creditors.

Miss North Carolina Kristen Dalton was crowned Miss USA on Sunday, but the big story to come out of the normally politics-free telecast was Miss California’s comments regarding gay marriage.

When asked by judge Perez Hilton, an openly gay gossip blogger, whether she believed in gay marriage, Miss California, Carrie Prejean, said “We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite. And you know what, I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised.”

Keith Lewis, who runs the Miss California competition, tells FOXNews.com that he was “saddened” by Prejean’s statement.

Carrie Prejean told FOXNews.com that she had “no regrets” and was happy with the answer she gave when a Miss USA judge, the gossip blogger Perez Hilton, asked about her stance on same-sex marriage.

“I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman,” she said on the live broadcast. “No offense to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised.”

Critics are up in arms about the recent jokes David Letterman made about former Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin. Did Letterman go too far this time? I guess that’s up to you. Letterman remarked that Palin was going for the “slutty flight attendant look” on her recent trip to New York. He also took a stab at her daughter, joking that she “got knocked up by a New York Yankee”. in my opinion, they’re just jokes. Politicians are fair game.

Maybe people are starting to feel like Palin is being picked on a bit much. But, with her antics during the presidential election race, you really can’t blame anybody for making fun of her. I say keep the jokes comin’!

This Friday is National Bike to Work Day! That exclamation point is actually my attempt at sarcasm, because bikers on the streets annoy the sh*t out of me. They’re always in my way and slowing down traffic. They never stop for lights and think they own the road. Maybe I’m just bitter because I don’t bike?

Anyway, Bike to Work Day, celebrated nationally since 1956, has gained a lot more attention in recent years because it’s an environmentally-conscious event, and raises awareness for causes like global warming. It’s quite simple really, if you bike to work, you’re not driving and polluting the ozone layer, thus cutting back on global warming. Ah, what the heck, maybe I’ll bust out my old Mongoose Menace and ride to work tomorrow!

It’s estimated that biking to work will save you $5 a day on average – taking gas, wear & tear and tolls into consideration. 5 bucks a day isn’t too shabby these days.

Wine in the Woods is an annual wine festival that takes place at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland. The event goes on all weekend and features an enormous amount of wine from all over. You pay a cover charge to get in, and then you can roam and taste all you want!

Aside from wine tasting, there’s also plenty of food, arts & crafts and many different live music acts. Merriweather, a popular outdoor concert venue is a great place to host Wine in the Woods. Aside from the outdoor amphitheater itself, the surrounding woods and open fields are serene and well-kept.

The even takes place from noon to 6 PM on both Saturday and Sunday and costs $25 to get in. If you’re under 21, it’s only going to cost you $5, but of course you won’t be privy to any wine tastings

The popular fast food chain, Sonic, is offering free root beer floats as part of a recent promotion. Sonic is the latest chain to hop on the trend of giving away freebies to get some press and spur some more business. It seems like there’s a new freebie hitting the press every day, so you won’t hear any complaints from me about it.

The promotion is only going on today from 8 PM until midnight, so if you want a free 10oz root beer float, you better get moving! Sonic estimates that they’ll be giving away about 3.5 million floats. Unfortunately for me, the nearest Sonic is at least a half hour away, so I won’t be enjoying any tasty root beer floats!

Amsterdam has always been known for its liberal reputation, namely legal drugs and prostitution. I got to experience the liberal ways of Amsterdam back in 2004, when I visited for an extended weekend. It’s a fun city, but I probably would’ve lost my mind if I stayed there any longer!

Anyway, I wanted to let you all know about the Amsterdam Beer Bike. This is something I never saw while I was visiting, and hadn’t even heard about until recently. The beer bike is basically a mobile bar. Equipped with loads of booze and thirsty tourists, it roams around the streets of Amsterdam. The drinkers not only need to pay for a ride, they have to work for it. Everyone on the bike will be pedaling to propel it through the streets. Though, I suppose you could always take a break and the thing would still move, just a bit slower.

KFC — Kentucky Fried Chicken to stubborn folks like myself — is launching a new grilled chicken entree.

Visit a participating KFC restaurant today and you can try one piece of the new Kentucky Grilled Chicken for free.

The grilled chicken, a recent addition to fast-food chain’s menu, is an attempt to give customers an option that’s healthier than the restaurant’s signature fried chicken. A grilled chicken thigh has 140 calories, according to a menu on KFC’s Web site.

- Tonight we get a double whammy with the double elimination! Since the Judge’s Save was used two finalists are going to waving goodbye by the end of tonight. It’s all a part of the game on the American Idol singing competition. Episode 31 featured the seven finalists singing songs from the theme “Disco Night”. I bet that kept you entertained and if you missed it watch it right here online along with Episode 32!

After picking through contestants, the public is able to vote after performances, until we’re left with one American Idol. Past winners include Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Barrino, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks, Jordin Sparks, and David Cook, the most successful being Clarkson and Underwood.

American Idol season 8 episode 32 – Who gets voted off this time? Who among the the top 7 will be in the bottom three in American Idol season 8 episode 32? What will be the American Idol 4/22 results this time? We will know the Top 7 Results when the full episode airs. American Idol s08e32 will air this April 22, 2009. In recent weeks, we learned that Carrie Prejan was allowed to keep her title of Miss California, despite supposedly breaking the rules of the contest. However, Donald Trump changed all that today. Miss California Carrie Prejan was stripped of her crown, due to “contract violations”.

She came under fire after topless photos of her surfaced last month, as well as due to her missed appearances and statements on same-sex marriage. It seemed like it was only a matter of time before she was dethroned, but when nothing happened immediately, people started to think she was going to be allowed to keep the crown.

Trump stated that “Carrie is a beautiful young woman, and I wish her well as she pursues her other interests…”. Clearly, those interests will not include her keeping the Miss California crown. She’ll likely have difficulty entering another beauty contest on the same level, but with all the press surrounding her, I’m sure she’ll be able to squeeze a living out of something.

At a news conference this afternoon, Nashville, Tennessee Police Chief Ronal Serpas told reporters that Steve McNair was murdered by his 20-year old girlfriend, who then turned the gun on herself. All the evidence clearly points to a murder-suicide – including the entry and exit wounds and the positions of both bodies. As tragic as it is and as much as friends, family and fans don’t want to believe it, Steve McNair was actually murdered.

McNair’s girlfriend, 20-year old Sahel Kazemi, likely shot and killed McNair while he was asleep on the couch. She shot him once in the head, twice in the chest, then again in the temple. She then positioned herself so that she would fall onto his lap after she pulled the trigger, which is how police found her body.

In recent weeks, we learned that Carrie Prejan was allowed to keep her title of Miss California, despite supposedly breaking the rules of the contest. However, Donald Trump changed all that today. Miss California Carrie Prejan was stripped of her crown, due to “contract violations”.

She came under fire after topless photos of her surfaced last month, as well as due to her missed appearances and statements on same-sex marriage. It seemed like it was only a matter of time before she was dethroned, but when nothing happened immediately, people started to think she was going to be allowed to keep the crown.

Trump stated that “Carrie is a beautiful young woman, and I wish her well as she pursues her other interests…”. Clearly, those interests will not include her keeping the Miss California crown. She’ll likely have difficulty entering another beauty contest on the same level, but with all the press surrounding her, I’m sure she’ll be able to squeeze a living out of something.

At a news conference this afternoon, Nashville, Tennessee Police Chief Ronal Serpas told reporters that Steve McNair was murdered by his 20-year old girlfriend, who then turned the gun on herself. All the evidence clearly points to a murder-suicide – including the entry and exit wounds and the positions of both bodies. As tragic as it is and as much as friends, family and fans don’t want to believe it, Steve McNair was actually murdered.

McNair’s girlfriend, 20-year old Sahel Kazemi, likely shot and killed McNair while he was asleep on the couch. She shot him once in the head, twice in the chest, then again in the temple. She then positioned herself so that she would fall onto his lap after she pulled the trigger, which is how police found her body.

iPhone OS 3.0 Beta 4 and iTunes 8.2 Pre-Release to Developers

Continuing a pattern of biweekly releases, Apple tonight seeded the fourth beta version of iPhone OS 3.0 to developers. Apple also issued a developer pre-release version of iTunes 8.2, which is required to activate the new beta. No new features in the fourth beta version have been revealed as of yet.

The iPhone OS 3.0 was first demonstrated at a media event in mid-March and will bring over 100 new features to users. The iPhone OS 3.0 is expected to be a major focus of Apple’s sold out Worldwide Developers Conference to be held in San Francisco in June.

Update: One forum poster points out that the latest iTunes 8.2 beta carries references to Blu-Ray data from Gracenote, suggesting that iTunes could support the reading/recognizing of Blu-Ray discs. This note is not present in the current version of iTunes:

HP said they expected earnings per share to be between $.84 and $.86, excluding the one-time charges. Wall Street analysts also forecast earnings per share of $.86, again excluding the charges. So, where’s the beef? They met their own expectations as well as those of Wall Street. Sure, revenue is down 17% from Q1 in 2008, but isn’t that the same across the board?

It’s not hard to figure out where those losses came from; as business across the world slice their budgets and hold off on technology upgrades, the sales of PC’s and printers go down. HP has certainly not been immune to this decline, but it seems to me that they’re still doing an OK job. $1.7 billion in profit in a ‘recession’ doesn’t sound too shabby to me. But then again, what the heck do I know?

The Flying Pig Marathon is set for its 11th edition Sunday May 3 and the City of Cincinnati is advising drivers to plan ahead and avoid streets along the race route.

Race participants desiring near-by parking are advised to arrive early, before the streets close, to ensure there is plenty of time to park and to get to the starting line of the race.

Spectators are encouraged to watch the race and cheer for the runners at various points along the route.
The race course travels through various parts of Cincinnati, Mariemont, Fairfax, and Northern Kentucky, with a number of streets closed or open with restrictions to make way for the runners. (Read more here)

Severe storms beginning late April 27 into Tuesday have caused flooding in parts of the Houston area.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Cypress Creek at Stuebner-Airline Road area, where it says record flooding has occurred, but expects river levels to decrease throughout the day.

Earlier thunderstorms dropped five to seven inches of rain over the northwest Houston area, and run-off produced the rise in water at Stuebner-Airline Road.

Kentucky Derby winner, Mine that Bird, gave the Filly a run for her money, but ended up taking second. With the third leg of the triple crown just a few weeks away at Belmont, Rachel Alexandra will likely be the favorite to win.

This was the first time in a few years that I didn’t partake in the infield debauchery at Pimlico for the Preakness. They stopped letting you bring your own booze into the infield, so I decided to stop going. Frankly, I was probably getting too old for it anyway.

This year, a Filly won the Preakness! Rachel Alexandra became the first Filly in 85 years to win the Preakness – quite an accomplishment. Kentucky Derby winner, Mine that Bird, gave the Filly a run for her money, but ended up taking second. With the third leg of the triple crown just a few weeks away at Belmont, Rachel Alexandra will likely be the favorite to win.

This year’s Preakness will carry on as planned, with one slight change: you can’t bring your own alcohol to the infield! The infield and all of its debauchery has always been quite the scene. Beer-tossing, countless fights, and of the course the infamous Running of the Porta Potties back in the glory days of ‘07:

It’s precisely these antics that caused Pimlico to institute the no-bring-your-own alcohol policy; that, and they wanted to make more money by selling their own booze. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that: you’re allowed to drink, you’ll just have to take part in $6 miller lite day at Pimlico. And if you’ve ever been to Preakness, you know it’s a loooong day. We used to start around 7 AM and go until the actual Preakness race, which was around 7pm. Booze + Sun always = sunburned drunks.

Vickie Guerrero opens the show in the ring.  She said that she’s proud of Edge for winning the World Heavyweight Title from John Cena at Backlash.  However, it is her honor, as the General Manager of Raw, to introduce Randy Orton as the new WWE Champion.

Randy Orton comes to the ring with Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase in tow.  After a great deal of time spent grand standing, Orton said that he did exactly what he set out to do last night.  He then proceeds to tell the fans that they will all amount to nothing.  But not him… he’s a success.  And he’ll be the first to tell you.  A highlight film is then shown of him destroying the entire McMahon family… one punt to the head at a time.

Chrysler Finally Files For Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection

The White House just announced that the third largest American automaker, Chrysler, will file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and enter an alliance with Fiat SpA (BIT:F). The bankruptcy case, which is expected to be quick and “surgical”, will take place in the United States Bankruptcy Court in New York, and the filing marks the first American automaker to try to restructure under Chapter 11 since 1933 when Studebaker filed. A senior White House official said the case would commence immediately and the government would provide Chrysler with $3 to $3.5 billion debtor-in-possession financing so it could continue with daily operations. After completion of its restructuring plans, Chrysler will receive $4.5 billion in financing to restart operations. The embattled member of the Detroit Three has already received $4.5 billion in aid from the federal government.

Following reports from late last night and early this morning that talks had broken down with lenders, Chrysler will officially announce its plan to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Thursday. Negotiations between Chrysler and at least three lenders went on through the night, but no agreement was reached.

The news was revealed to Automotive News by an unnamed Obama administration official. The official said the Treasury Department upped its Chrysler debt-swap offer to $2.25 billion – up from $2 billion – but was unable to reach an agreement with the holdout creditors.

That exclamation point is actually my attempt at sarcasm, because bikers on the streets annoy the sh*t out of me. They’re always in my way and slowing down traffic. They never stop for lights and think they own the road. Maybe I’m just bitter because I don’t bike?

Anyway, Bike to Work Day, celebrated nationally since 1956, has gained a lot more attention in recent years because it’s an environmentally-conscious event, and raises awareness for causes like global warming. It’s quite simple really, if you bike to work, you’re not driving and polluting the ozone layer, thus cutting back on global warming. This Friday is National Bike to Work Day! That exclamation point is actually my attempt at sarcasm, because bikers on the streets annoy the sh*t out of me. They’re always in my way and slowing down traffic. They never stop for lights and think they own the road. Maybe I’m just bitter because I don’t bike?

Anyway, Bike to Work Day, celebrated nationally since 1956, has gained a lot more attention in recent years because it’s an environmentally-conscious event, and raises awareness for causes like global warming. It’s quite simple really, if you bike to work, you’re not driving and polluting the ozone layer, thus cutting back on global warming. National Donut Day takes place on the first Friday of June every year, which would make the celebration on schedule for tomorrow. The ‘holiday’ celebrates the donut – worshiping it, cherishing it, and eventually consuming it. Due to the conception that donuts are unhealthy, many people in recent years have modified the holiday to become ‘National Donut and Bagel Day. Like bagels are that much better.

National Donut Day started back in 1938 as a fundraiser for the Chicago Salvation Army. They wanted to raise money for the Great Depression and also to honor the ‘lassies’ who served donuts to solders in France behind the front lines in World War I.

There are many places you can get donuts to celebrate National Donut Day – the first place that comes to mind is Dunkin’ Donuts. But don’t forget about Krispy Kreme or your good ol’ local gas station. If you’re feeling brave, you can even bake your own donuts and feast in the comfort of your home!

Amsterdam has always been known for its liberal reputation, namely legal drugs and prostitution. I got to experience the liberal ways of Amsterdam back in 2004, when I visited for an extended weekend. It’s a fun city, but I probably would’ve lost my mind if I stayed there any longer!

Anyway, I wanted to let you all know about the Amsterdam Beer Bike. This is something I never saw while I was visiting, and hadn’t even heard about until recently. The beer bike is basically a mobile bar. Equipped with loads of booze and thirsty tourists, it roams around the streets of Amsterdam. The drinkers not only need to pay for a ride, they have to work for it. Everyone on the bike will be pedaling to propel it through the streets. Though, I suppose you could always take a break and the thing would still move, just a bit slower.

This was the first time in a few years that I didn’t partake in the infield debauchery at Pimlico for the Preakness. They stopped letting you bring your own booze into the infield, so I decided to stop going. Frankly, I was probably getting too old for it anyway.

This year, a Filly won the Preakness! Rachel Alexandra became the first Filly in 85 years to win the Preakness – quite an accomplishment. Kentucky Derby winner, Mine that Bird, gave the Filly a run for her money, but ended up taking second. With the third leg of the triple crown just a few weeks away at Belmont, Rachel Alexandra will likely be the favorite to win.

This year’s Preakness will carry on as planned, with one slight change: you can’t bring your own alcohol to the infield! The infield and all of its debauchery has always been quite the scene. Beer-tossing, countless fights, and of the course the infamous Running of the Porta Potties back in the glory days of ‘07:

So, if you wanted to stock up on those precious 42-centers, you’re too late! But be sure to head out and pick up a big ol’ stack of the new 44 cent Forever stamps, because who knows when they’ll decide to give us another increase.

“Mixed-race babies have such a hard time being adopted that Deb and I checked off that box specifically when we were filling out our forms,” Jackman says. “Our lawyer brought the form back to us and said, ‘This is not the time to be politically correct. Are you sure this is what you want?’ We were definite about it. Adoption is about taking a baby into your home—and your heart. It’s the best thing we’ve ever done.”

Jon Gosselin — co-star of TLC’s top-rated Jon & Kate Plus 8 — issued a statement Wednesday after US magazine published a paparazzi photo of him leaving a Pennsylvania bar with an unidentified woman. The picture, which the magazine alleges was taken around 2 a.m., shows Gosselin in the passenger seat of a car with a young woman behind the wheel. It was reportedly taken at a bar called Legends on April 18 near the Gosselins’ home about 90 minutes outside of Philadelphia.

“Like most people, I have male and female friends and I’m not going to end my friendships just because I’m on TV,” Gosselin said. “However, being out…late at night showed poor judgment on my part. What makes me sick is that my careless behavior has put my family in this uncomfortable position. My family is the most important thing in my life and it kills me that these allegations have hurt them.”

This isn’t the first time the tabloids have splashed a photo of Gosselin with a woman who wasn’t Kate, his wife and mother of their eight children. In February, the gossips pounced on a pic that showed Gosselin with two young coeds at a college bar. TLC has insisted the encounter was innocent — he agreed to pose for the picture — but these kind of incidents are definitely taking their toll on the 32-year-old father. In an exclusive interview with EW last week, Gosselin admitted that the show, which is about to begin its fifth season on May 25, has offered financial security for his uber-family (he quit his job in 2007 so he can be with his family — and the show — full time).
