As always, Mel Kiper Jr. has graded the NFL Draft, even though no one drafted has played a down in the NFL yet. I always find that rather strange, but whatever, my team got a B+, so I won’t complain. Here’s Mel’s take .
I love what this team did to solidify its shaky defense in the first two picks alone, with the selection of two excellent players in defensive tackle B.J. In a few days, we’ll get to see the 2009 NFL Draft Grades of our favorite football teams as the 2009 NFL Draft will happen in Radio City Music Hall, New York.

The 2009 NFL Draft will have two rounds on the first day April 25, and five rounds on the second day April 26. You can watch the 2009 NFL Draft live results over at the NFL Network and ESPN. For this year, the Detroit Lions will have first selection after making NFL history as the first team to finish a season at 0-16.

As this event happen, I shall be updating this website and give you the 2009 NFL Draft Grades and 2009 NFL Draft Results.
Armed with nine picks on the second day of the NFL Draft, the Bears have the opportunity to add depth at a lot of positions. Wide receiver and defensive back would appear to be the biggest need. We will see,

9:22 a.m. No. 68: Bears select defensive tackle Jarron Gilbert (6-5, 288) from San Jose State.

This was one of the picks the Bears received after a first-day trade with Seattle. The Bears shipped their second-round pick to the Seahawks. This gives the Bears some depth alongside Tommie Harris. Gilbert moved inside from defensive end, so maybe the Bears could use him there at some point. But Harris’ knee problems might encourage the Bears to keep Gilbert inside. They also have Marcus Harrison, so suddenly the interior of the defensive line is shaping up to look pretty good.

Raiders Draft Michael Mitchell in 2nd

The Oakland Raiders executed a trade with the New England Patriots, slid back seven spots and gained a 4th and a 6th round pick and landed hard-hitting defensive back Michael Mitchell from Ohio University.

In 2008, he played in 11 of a possible 12 games and logged 62 total tackles (36 solo) three interceptions and five passes defensed. He also forced two fumbles and chalked up a quarterback sack.

Michael Mitchell pick a head-scratcher

The Raiders pulled another one out of their hat when they traded down in the second round and grabbed little-known safety Michael Mitchell, a player many people felt would be available on the second day but one who Oakland’s brass believes can bring a physical presence to the team’s secondary.

As always, Mel Kiper Jr. has graded the NFL Draft, even though no one drafted has played a down in the NFL yet. At 6 feet 5 inches each, they were the world’s tallest female twins before their record was broken by Ann and Claire Recht. A Disney television movie, Double Teamed, is based on their life stories and achievements in basketball. In the WNBA, Heidi Burge Horton played for the Los Angeles Sparks and the Washington Mystics. Her sister Heather Burge Quella played for the Sacramento Monarchs. Both twins had to retire from playing basketball due to injuries. Heidi now works as a massage therapist and does basketball coaching and clinics on the side; Heather is now a multilingual teacher in Southern California.

It may not be a surprise that the Burge sisters, Heather and Heidi, play basketball. After all, they formerly held the Guinness World Record for tallest twins in the world (at 6 foot 5). The story of Heather and Heidi Burge and their development into talented youth basketball players during the ’70s and ’80s is told in the Disney original movie “Double Teamed”, which was released in 2002.

As the movie shows, Heather and Heidi Burge, who were born in 1971, became well known playing for their high school basketball team in Palos Verde, California. “Double Teamed’ focuses on their high school years and the rivalry between the sisters, who later played college basketball at the University of Virginia, making it to the NCAA Final Four several times.

Heather and Heidi Burge are twin sisters from California, United States, who both played college basketball at the University of Virginia and then played professionally in European leagues and in the Women’s National Basketball Association. Wallace is also going to compete for return chores, but it could be an option competition for the No. 3 receiver job.

Jason Williams didn’t get an invitation to the combine, but his stock soared after he participated in Western Illinois’ pro day. Williams demonstrates the instincts to quickly track down the ball. He has the change-of-direction agility and lateral movement to string plays wide and hits ballcarriers with force, driving with his legs to push the opponent back through the rush lane.

Mega Millions winning numbers

As always, Mel Kiper Jr. has graded the NFL Draft, even though no one drafted has played a down in the NFL yet.

NEW YORK — The whispers are that the deal could be done tonight, or already is done, but for some i-dotting and t-crossing. Peter King tells us to take it to the bank: Matthew Stafford is “going to be a Detroit Lion.”

It’s been an open secret for days that Stafford, the former Georgia quarterback, is in serious negotiations with the Lions and is very likely to be the No. 1 pick in Saturday’s NFL draft. Mark Sanchez is telling anybody who’ll listen that Stafford-to-Detroit is a done deal. Aaron Curry, while still hoping it will be him, seems resigned to Stafford as the No. 1 pick.

Sources have announced that the Detroit Lions have signed Matt Stafford as the #1 overall in the 2009 NFL Draft. NFL.com, SI, Yahoo, and FOXSports.com have all posted the story with different details.
