Armed with nine picks on the second day of the NFL Draft, the Bears have the opportunity to add depth at a lot of positions. Wide receiver and defensive back would appear to be the biggest need. We will see,

This was one of the picks the Bears received after a first-day trade with Seattle. The Bears shipped their second-round pick to the Seahawks. This gives the Bears some depth alongside Tommie Harris. Gilbert moved inside from defensive end, so maybe the Bears could use him there at some point. But Harris’ knee problems might encourage the Bears to keep Gilbert inside. They also have Marcus Harrison, so suddenly the interior of the defensive line is shaping up to look pretty good.

The Oakland Raiders executed a trade with the New England Patriots, slid back seven spots and gained a 4th and a 6th round pick and landed hard-hitting defensive back Michael Mitchell from Ohio University.

In 2008, he played in 11 of a possible 12 games and logged 62 total tackles (36 solo) three interceptions and five passes defensed. He also forced two fumbles and chalked up a quarterback sack.

As always, Mel Kiper Jr. has graded the NFL Draft, even though no one drafted has played a down in the NFL yet. I always find that rather strange, but whatever, my team got a B+, so I won’t complain. Here’s Mel’s take .

Green Bay Packers: GRADE: A
I love what this team did to solidify its shaky defense in the first two picks alone, with the selection of two excellent players in defensive tackle B.J. Raji and outside linebacker Clay Matthews. Tackle T.J. Lang was a good pickup for the offensive line, while Quinn Johnson could be a bruising lead fullback in the league. Sixth-round pick Brandon Underwood could make this team and give the Packers depth as a backup.

New York Jets: GRADE: A-
The motto of the Jets’ draft was quality over quantity. Mark Sanchez’s selection made this team’s draft because he’s a franchise-maker. New coach Rex Ryan likes his defense, so the organization felt it could focus on the offense in his first draft. The Jets picked up Iowa running back Shonn Greene, who will fit into the rotation with Leon Washington and Thomas Jones. Guard Matthew Slauson was an OK pick in the sixth round, but the key to this draft is up top with Greene and Sanchez.

Chicago Bears’ selections and Day 2 of NFL Draft

Armed with nine picks on the second day of the NFL Draft, the Bears have the opportunity to add depth at a lot of positions. Wide receiver and defensive back would appear to be the biggest need. We will see,

9:22 a.m. No. 68: Bears select defensive tackle Jarron Gilbert (6-5, 288) from San Jose State.

This was one of the picks the Bears received after a first-day trade with Seattle. The Bears shipped their second-round pick to the Seahawks. This gives the Bears some depth alongside Tommie Harris. Gilbert moved inside from defensive end, so maybe the Bears could use him there at some point. But Harris’ knee problems might encourage the Bears to keep Gilbert inside. They also have Marcus Harrison, so suddenly the interior of the defensive line is shaping up to look pretty good.

Raiders Draft Michael Mitchell in 2nd

The Oakland Raiders executed a trade with the New England Patriots, slid back seven spots and gained a 4th and a 6th round pick and landed hard-hitting defensive back Michael Mitchell from Ohio University.

In 2008, he played in 11 of a possible 12 games and logged 62 total tackles (36 solo) three interceptions and five passes defensed. He also forced two fumbles and chalked up a quarterback sack.

The Raiders pulled another one out of their hat when they traded down in the second round and grabbed little-known safety Michael Mitchell, a player many people felt would be available on the second day but one who Oakland’s brass believes can bring a physical presence to the team’s secondary.

Football fans are now excited for the 2009 NFL Draft. In a few days, we’ll get to see the 2009 NFL Draft Grades of our favorite football teams as the 2009 NFL Draft will happen in Radio City Music Hall, New York.

The 2009 NFL Draft will have two rounds on the first day April 25, and five rounds on the second day April 26. You can watch the 2009 NFL Draft live results over at the NFL Network and ESPN. For this year, the Detroit Lions will have first selection after making NFL history as the first team to finish a season at 0-16.

As this event happen, I shall be updating this website and give you the 2009 NFL Draft Grades and 2009 NFL Draft Results. In any case, here’s a 2009 NFL Mock Draft Picks for Round 1 that was sent to me by a friend who’s an NFL fan.

NEW YORK — The whispers are that the deal could be done tonight, or already is done, but for some i-dotting and t-crossing. Peter King tells us to take it to the bank: Matthew Stafford is “going to be a Detroit Lion.”

It’s been an open secret for days that Stafford, the former Georgia quarterback, is in serious negotiations with the Lions and is very likely to be the No. 1 pick in Saturday’s NFL draft. Mark Sanchez is telling anybody who’ll listen that Stafford-to-Detroit is a done deal. Aaron Curry, while still hoping it will be him, seems resigned to Stafford as the No. 1 pick.

NASCAR driver Carl Edwards is in good shape after a fiery crash at NASCAR’s Talladega Speedway Sunday, but several fans are less lucky
. The crash sent wreckage flying into the stand, injuring seven spectators and sending two to the hospital.

Carl Edwards’ crash occurred in the final lap of Sunday’s Sprint Cup Series race at the Talladega Speedway. Edwards’ car actually flipped 15 feet into the air in the collision, also involving drivers Brad Keselowski and Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Rielle Hunter Pictures! Elizabeth Edwards. In her new memoir, Resilience, Elizabeth Edwards reveals she vomited in a bathroom after learning of the affair between her husband, former U.S. Senator and presidential hopeful John Edwards, and weird videographer Rielle Hunter.

When she heard, “I cried and screamed, I went to the bathroom and threw up,” wrote Elizabeth Edwards, 59, who is battling terminal breast cancer.

She says that John Edwards admitted to having an affair with Rielle Hunter just days after declaring his run for president in late 2006 – or nearly a year before the National Enquirer broke the story in December 2007.

Shane Dronett was found dead in his home. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“The investigation is still ongoing relating to the cause and manner of death,” Ted Bailey, the Chief Forensic Investigator in Gwinnett County, told the newspaper.

Former NFL football player, Shane Dronett, was found dead at his Duluth home on Wednesday. Dronett was 38. Read more on Shane Dronett’s death below.

“The investigation is still ongoing relating to the cause and manner of death,” Ted Bailey, the Chief Forensic Investigator in Gwinnett County, told the newspaper.

Former Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve “Air” McNair was found shot to death in a Nashville condo today. Beside him was his girlfriend who was also shot to death. A handgun was found on the scene but detective were not immediately able to determine how or why the couple was killed, though it has been ruled a homicide.

McNair led the Titans to the 2000 Super Bowl, where they ended up losing a tight battle. He went on to QB for the Baltimore Ravens before ending his long career as a successful quarterback. It’s a big loss for the NFL community and a tragic situation. Were hoping to learn more about his death in the coming weeks as detectives have time to interview witnesses and analyze evidence.

It is unclear at this time where the gun came from, as is the nature of the relationship between McNair and his girlfriend, Sahel Kazemi. McNair was just 36 years old and his girlfriend was 20.

It’s truly a sad day for music fans all over the world, as we learned that pop icon Michael Jackson was pronounced dead today. At just 50 years old, MJ suffered a cardiac arrest and doctors weren’t able to bring him back. A staff member at Jackson’s Holmby Hills home called 911 when they found him unconscious. He was immediately rushed to the UCLA medical center, but attempts to revive him through CPR proved to be futile.

Jackson’s amazing career spanned decades, starting when he was just a child with his siblings performing in the Jackson 5, all the way through to his highly successful career as a solo artist.

Mark Landon, the son of the late actor, Michael Landon, was found dead around noon yesterday at his home in West Hollywood, CA, reports the Inquistr.

Though I didn’t know much about Mark, I used to be a huge fan of his father, Michael Landon. Most notably from the tv show Bonanza, which was one of my favorites as a kid! I loved cowboy shows and movies and Bonanza fit right in. I still remember that he died of cancer back in 1991. He was also known for his starring role in Little House on the Prarie. Michael Landon was only 54 when he died.

Mark Landon made it ’til 60 before he passed. The immediate cause(s) of his death are unknown at the time, or they simply haven’t been released to the public. He wasn’t suffering from any grave illness as far as I know. I’ll be sure to give an update here on Top Buzz once we learn more.
